2012 Graduate Careers Fair

More than 2,300 students visited the Royal Exhibition Building on Wednesday 7 March for Careers & Employment’s 2012 Graduate Careers Fair.

Students had the opportunity to visit over 140 booths to meet with a variety of employers from Business, Government, Engineering, Environments and many more sectors.

Employers chatted with students about graduate employment opportunities, about what it would be like to work with their organisation, and the requirements for their graduate program.

Careers & Employment encouraged students to prepare before the day and provided them with tips on how best to approach and interact with employers, so that when they had the opportunity to meet with the organisations on their target list, they were ready to really shine.

Employer feedback

“The careers fair was very well run; the quality of the students was great. As an employer, we really appreciated that the attendance was monitored and only students were able to attend; and also appreciated the punctuality of the timings etc.”

Sue Wicks, Xstrata

“Excellent service provided by Melbourne Uni – we were greeted as we arrived with our load of goodies, and assisted by the staff with trolleys; I was assisted with registration and taken to our stand, while Chris was escorted to our stand separately with the luggage; there were also several bottles of water provided and an information sheet which gave an outline of the event and answered any other questions we might have had; they also provided a garbage bag for disposal of our rubbish; we were asked if we needed anything and nothing was a problem. The lunch provided was excellent (very yummy – we ate way too much!!!) – beautifully presented and plenty of it."

Cathy Riach, BAE Systems

Can your promotional material be recycled?

Students value employers who are responsible corporate citizens so we encourage you to use promotional materials that can be recycled. Avoid wax covered and laminated paper. Consider carefully any free items you give to students at fairs or information sessions. Suggestions for recyclable items: calico/paper show bags instead of plastic, USB pens, solar power adapter.
