University of Melbourne breakfast forum proves fruitful for Employers
More than 60 employers, professional organisations and University of Melbourne staff gathered for Careers & Employment’s annual Employer Breakfast Forum at the Sidney Myer Asia Centre. The theme of the forum was Developing Graduate Attributes and Employability Skills.
The Provost, John Dewar welcomed employers to the event and stated that the Melbourne Model was designed with the needs of employers in mind. Listen to John's introduction here (MP3 | 8000KB).
Di Rachinger, General Manager of Student Engagement at The University of Melbourne was the key note speaker. Di talked about the student engagement programs, internships and other initiatives at the university that actively support the development of the university’s key graduate attributes. Di highlighted that the Melbourne Model was creating more opportunities for a stronger shared experience, encouragement and a sense of university community. Zoe Dauth, a University of Melbourne alumnus and winner of the Vice Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Contribution (Professional Staff) in the category 'Creating Connections, Contribution to Engagement' spoke about the proactive work she has completed to instigate a Global Perspectives Summit. The employer breakfast concluded with a discussion between employers and university staff about the Melbourne Model, internships and related areas.
