Progress Checks - Resumés and Job Applications
Feedback on resumés and job application documents such as cover letters and selection criteria documents is provided through our Careers Drop In service. These are brief consultations which do not require bookings; students are seen on a ‘first come, first served’ basis.
These are offered across campus and any session can be attended by students from any faculty.
Please bring a printed copy of your document(s) and also the job advertisement and/or position description or selection criteria.
If you’re preparing your resumé before you are ready to apply for a job, be ready to tell the consultant what sort of job you are seeking (eg part-time work, internship, graduate) and in what general field.
Before coming for an application progress check:
- Fully prepare your documents before you attend. The focus of these progress checks is on dealing with challenging sections or aspects of your documents.
- To get started, use the guidelines and resources on the Job Applications section of the C&E website.
- If at all possible, attend a resumés or applications seminar or workshop offered for your faculty. These are offered in Next Steps programs organised for each faculty. To find sessions, go to Career Sessions in Faculties or search Careers Online (Events – Skills development Workshops and Seminars).
