Websites and print information
Faculty sites
Refer first to your Faculty site. Sometimes careers information is in various locations so do a site search e.g. careers + geography. Also check out career profiles (profiles of past graduates and their careers).
Career Links
Career Links is a resource which provides links to websites with information about careers related to courses and / or majors for each New Gen undergraduate degree. It can be accessed via Online Career Tools (Career Research).
In addition to careers information from Faculty sites, Career Links typically include:
- Professional Associations and Industry Body sites
- The career book series – Career FAQs.
- Graduate Careers Australia (GCA) Career Profiles series
Note: Many of the careers mentioned will require further study. If unsure about what qualifications are required for a particular career, talk to your teaching staff and / or make an appointment for a Career Consultation.
Overseas career sites
These can be useful if Australian sources have limited information for your major:
- UK Graduate Careers - Options with your subject
- University of Victoria, Wellington, New Zealand - Career View.
- University of Tennessee - What Can I Do With This Major?
myfuture
‘myfuture’ is a central site for careers information in Australia. It can be used in a number of ways, including:
- Search by industry to identify occupations e.g. what sort of occupations are there in agriculture? (Go to The Facts, then to Work and Employment, then to Occupations, and then search by Industry or Industry Sub-Division)
- Look up detail about specific occupations of interest e.g. what does an Environmental Scientist do? (Go to The Facts, then to Occupations, and then search alphabetically for the occupation)
Graduate Destination Data
The University's Finance & Planning Group surveys graduates 4 months after graduation to find out what sort of work they are doing and how they found their jobs. There is data for each Faculty on industries and occupations, and also examples of job titles and employers.
